CFS e-News, April 2006
Dear Friends of CFS,

It’s hard to believe another school year is almost over. As we prepare for graduation in May, we take time to recognize the 671 CFS students who will be honored at the University Honors Convocation on April 9. This achievement requires that a student qualify for the Dean’s List or earn Semester Honors for at least one semester in the 2005–06 academic year.

Among those who will be honored are four CFS degree recipients/candidates who earned a 4.0 GPA. They are May 2006 candidates Selena Baker, dietetics; Megan Diaz, dietetics and nutrition, fitness, and health; Kristen Machetti, occupational family and consumer sciences education; and December 2005 graduate Ann Scott, individual and family studies.

Honors student Kristen Melville (HTM) presents her poster at the 2005 Honors Poster Session.

Following the convocation, our college will host a reception for students and their families in conjunction with an Honors Poster Session. Several students enrolled in the CFS Honors program will display posters describing their honors projects. These students are Tugce Atabay, hospitality and tourism management; Megan Diaz, foods and nutrition; Jill Hunt, CFS education; Ashley Keck, consumer sciences and retailing; and Brooke Schantz, foods and nutrition. If you have the opportunity, I encourage you to come by and visit with these outstanding students.

Each year, the students in our college continue to impress me with their intelligence, questioning minds, and determination to succeed. Please join me in congratulating our many students on their accomplishments this year.

Hail Purdue!
Dennis Savaiano

Dean
