Most of us have never known true hunger. We’ve all been hungry, but we’ve never experienced prolonged hunger that can jeopardize our health. Yet each day, global hunger affects one of every seven people in the world and claims 25,000 lives.
Our speaker for this year’s Eva Goble Lecture Series works on the front line in the battle against global hunger and malnutrition. James Morris is the executive director of the United Nations World Food Programme, the world’s largest food aid organization. He will join us on October 26 in the Purdue Memorial Union to talk about world hunger, its consequences, and how we can work together to find a solution.
For over 35 years, Mr. Morris (at right) has combined a distinguished career of business with philanthropic and humanitarian leadership. Last year, the World Food Programme fed 104 million people in 81 countries, most of them women, children, and people in rural communities.
Hunger and malnutrition are the number one risk to health worldwide. I invite you to join us for this year’s Eva Goble Lecture Series to learn more about what we can all do to address this growing global crisis.
Hail Purdue!
